My Birthday and the Looming Sore Throat (Plus some humor for good measure)

Yup . . . another year older this weekend and, of course, I can’t be healthy for it!  You know that feeling: a little scratchy throat, your eyes feel hot and tired, the headache that only an overdose of Ibuprofen and Sudafed can cure (but not for me . . . I’m nursing two little ones still!).  I’m sure a good night’s sleep will help, so I’m about to head off to bed.  But before I do . . . I wanted to spread a little humor.  I saw this tee-shirt recently and it made me laugh . . . and in my search to find exactly what it said, I ran into some others that were hilarious.

First, the tee-shirt that I saw said, “NO ONE CARES ABOUT YOUR BLOG!”  Very, very funny.  I love to blog when I have the time, but I do find that my friends and family snicker at me behind my back whenever I say, “haven’t you seen such-and-such picture on my blog?!?!?!?”  Like, they’re ADMITTING that they don’t check it every second of every day like I know they should!  LOL!

Okay . . . some other funny tee-shirt sayings about blogging that I found at www.cafepress.com [warning: some tee-shirts on the cafepress site may be offensive . . . but the ones I found funny below aren’t]:

“ask me about my blog”
“I’m blogging this”
“Be careful what you say to me, I might blog about it later”
“Everything you do can and will be used as blog material”
“Don’t drink and blog”
“BLOGebrity”
and the BEST blog tee-shirt ever: “THE BOB LOBLAW LAW BLOG”  (you had to watch ”Arrested Development” to understand this one . . .)

My sister’s expecting her second baby in November, so I just had to look up the maternity ones:

“Does this baby make me look fat?”
“My lovely baby bump”
“What happens in Vegas doesn’t always stay in Vegas”
“No, I’m not having twins. And, yes, that IS rude.”
For me:

“I make milk. What’s your superpower?”
“You can’t scare me. I’ve got twins.”

For hubby:

“Daddy of twins. That’s right, I’m the man!”
“Daddy of twins. I nap at red lights.”
For the Twins:

“I’m a Twincess” (tooooo cute).
“Former Wombmates”

Anyways . . . I thought those were cute!  I must go sleep now . . .

We already have a winner for Contest #1

That’s right, folks, Kelly Haynes from Kelly Haynes Photography, http://www.khaynes.com, has won Contest #1!!!  I know she’ll be all amped up on Starbucks caffeine as she post-processes all of those pics she takes!!! LOL!!! (hey, I know I’m no Bob Barker . . . .I just can’t announce contest winners like the seasoned pros)!

The hint was: PINK CADILLAC.  Well . . .. Kelly guessed it!!!  In the very near future, I am going to be an independent sales consultant for Mary Kay Cosmetics.  I’ve used their skin care for years and years and absolutely love it, and decided that since I won’t be doing as many weddings as I used to, I’m going to start selling Mary Kay.  I haven’t tried their make-up yet, but if it’s anywhere near as good as their cleansers and moisturizers, the stuff will sell itself.  I really believe in their product, so why not?  I am *so* NOT the salesperson type . . . so we’ll see how it goes, but I really feel I have nothing to lose.  So, I’m sure I’ll be posting a link to my Mary Kay website soon!!!

Congratulations, Kelly!

Contest Update!

Well, I’ve received some really cute guesses for the two contests . . . hahaha!  But all of them were WRONG!  LOL!  I’ve also received some requests for more hints, so maybe this will help:

Contest #1 (pink cadillac):
No, I’m not moving to Vegas.  As fun as that would be and as much as I love the place, it’s not in our residential future!
No, I am not photographing Aretha Franklin, although it would be an honor and privilege to do so!
Hint: This one is not photography related.

Contest #2 (pattycake, pattycake, baker’s man):
No, I am not opening a wedding cake business (although that would probably quash all of my future cravings for cake, which would be a good thing).
NO, I AM NOT PREGNANT!!!!  LOL!!!
Hint: This one is photography related.

Happy Guessing!

Ethan Turns 6!!!

My nephew celebrated his 6th birthday this weekend, complete with a knight’s party (princesses for the girls!).  My sister has a tendency to go wild with the birthday celebrations, so he had the biggest jumper/slide combination I had ever seen, an over-the-top cake, and activities galore!  Needless to say, I had to drag Devyn to the car while she cried and begged to stay.  She literally jumped for 4 hours straight!

The birthday boy:

My little leaping frog can catch some serious air!!!

Pretty, pretty Jordyn:

The adorable Miss Hailey:

Good luck, folks!  I’ll be looking forward to your emails.  I will be giving out more hints as time goes by and if we have no winners.  Each contest will run until someone guesses correctly (or until I can’t take sit on the news any longer - hahaha).  Two gift certificates (one for each contest) will be awarded. SOME of you are not eligible for one or both of the contests.  You know who you are . . . Amy, Neil, Ter, Caryn, etc.

Happy guessing!!!

Wonder Twin Powers: ACTIVATE!

An outtake from today . . . the first day one or both of them wasn’t too, too terribly sick.

Poor Poor Baby . . .

Tyler has the CROUP!!!!!!!!!!!  I swear . . . we are sure doing our fair share to ensure that plenty of doctors’ and nurses’ children get their college tuitions paid this year!  All we do is go to the doctor!  Ugh!

Yesterday Tyler had the seal bark cough.  By nighttime she could barely breathe, so off we went to the hospital for an oral steroid to reduce the inflammation in her windpipe and a breathing treatment to help her airway open.  It was so sad.  The nice part was, though, as soon as they heard poor Tyler trying to breathe, we didn’t have to wait in the waiting room anymore!  They rushed us right in.

Daddy bought a humidifier and she’s doing okay today.  But they told us to not be surprised if we have to come back for another breathing treatment tonight because it gets worse at night.  Croup is pretty interesting.  Apparently it is REALLY common, but only some babies get it so badly that they need treatment.  http://kidshealth.org/parent/infections/bacterial_viral/croup.html  Of course, Tyler just WOULD have to be one of those kids!  Poor baby!

Here she is getting the breathing treatment:

[please note, these hospital images were taken on my camera phone . . . not exactly “professional” images!]

Studio Update . . .

Some of you may have noticed in the “rates” section of my website that I am not accepting anymore weddings commissions for 2007.  Yes.  It is true.  With the birth of the twins and my health problems, I decided that it was a good idea to cut back even more than I thought I would cut back this year.

That being said, I am working diligently on delivering outstanding albums.  All of our print orders are currently filled (so if you need prints from your weddings or sessions, now would be a good time order — hint, hint! :)).  I have recently retained some help in getting your album orders completed — so have no fear, they are on their way!

Big hugs and extra special thank yous to all of my clients who have been so thoughtful and understanding during my maternity leave and who have sent me emails and letters of encouragement and support while I was recovering from my surgeries and adjusting to my new life with the babies.  You guys are the best!
