The 3 month pic . . .
I just realized that I never posted this 3 month pic because it happened at the time my images were being stolen (read below). I ended up emailing this one to family and friends, but I feel confident I can post it safely now.

We’re 4 Months Old Now!
Today we had our “well baby” check-up and vaccinations because we’re already 4 months old! Mommy reported that we follow objects with our eyes; we smile, coo, and occasionally laugh; and we can lift our heads up when we have “tummy time.” She also told the doctor that Tyler is rolling over, but that Jordyn isn’t yet . . . so when the doctor put Jords on her tummy to check her head lifting skills, she promptly rolled over!!! Well, guess that settles that! Of course, we screamed and screamed when we got our shots (mom nearly burst into tears, too).
The doctor was also pleased with our growth. Tyler is 12 lbs. 12 ozs. and 23 inches long and Jordyn is 13 lbs. 12 ozs. and 25 inches long. Basically, we think that puts Tyler in the 10th percentile for height and the 25th percentile for weight, and Jordyn in the 50th percentile for weight and the 75th percentile for height. Jordyn is soooooo long!
Basically, we didn’t really have any major issues or problems at the doctor’s except for Tyler’s hives. The doctor thinks it’s something mommy is eating: strawberries or something like that. They sure are freaky looking when Tyler gets them, though. They make her look like she’s been attacked by rabid mosquitos! Well . . . here we are . . . without the hives:

Back to the Hospital Again . . .
Well, they are getting to know us REALLY well at the hospital emergency room since we are such frequent visitors! Thankfully, this trip went very well. Devyn and her daddy were playing and daddy heard Devyn’s arm “pop” and she started screaming. It was sooo sad! Dad felt HORRIBLE and Devyn couldn’t move her arm, but after x-rays and an exam, the ER doctor determined that it was “nursemaid’s elbow,” which is the trendy term for radial head subluxation — basically, she had a partial dislocation of her elbow. After the swelling went down, it popped back into place very nicely and it was as if nothing had happened at all — except for the lack of sleep. We were at the ER all night, and my uncle Tom and cousin Megan babysat the twins all night, so the 4 of us were EXHAUSTED.
Devyn looks beautiful even in the hospital:

She even got a dinosaur sling that she didn’t have to wear for very long:

Thankfully, no breaks or long-term sprains were involved. I had visions of some great big cast and canceling the swim lessons for the summer, but that won’t be necessary. I feel like we dodged a bullet.
******** Please note, due to some recent events, well, blatant thefts actually, all the images on my blog will be increasingly watermarked. Some strangers (certainly not my clients) have decided that that they really like my pictures . . . and have been using them without my permission. The nerve! Well, they got caught due to the kindness of some very internet savvy well-minded people and all is well.
Top 10 Reasons why Judging Amy Rocks
As you may already know, I’ve been under the weather lately — between my C-section, my gall bladder surgery, and my latest trip to the hospital for a severe infection and dehydration, I’ve spent quite a bit of time on the couch in pain! I’m not known for being a very good patient and I tend to get cabin fever very quickly, but Judging Amy re-runs have truly kept me sane at a time when I couldn’t be doing much else but lying down. I didn’t catch the program in syndication, but the reruns have me hooked. Here’s why the show rocks:
10. Because it seems that every actor who is somebody has appeared in an episode of JA. Whether it’s Heroes’ “Nathan Petrelli” in a re-occurring role or Two-and-a-Half Men’s “Berta” in a bit part, it’s exciting to tune in and see who’s going to appear next.
9. Because Judge Gray is so smart and compassionate in her job. She may be young for a judge, but the character dispenses a boatload of wisdom with class. Everyone can learn something from Judge Gray.
8. Because Amy Gray is a ding-dong. While she is wise on the bench, she’s a mess in her personal life and you can’t help but love her for being a human who makes mistakes.
7. Because Amy Brenneman, while gorgeous and thin, doesn’t exactly have what today’s society considers to be “THE” perfect body, yet she’s not afraid to show her backside and thighs in a bathing suit on national television. Bravo for her!
6. Because Bruce van Exel is positively perfect for Amy and everyone knows it, but in keeping with good television programming patterns they never do quite get together (despite the one kiss I’ve seen so far). It’s an excellent hook and I can’t stop watching until I know for sure whether or not they finally hook up (please don’t email me the spoilers . . . I KNOW I’m watching re-runs!).
5. Because Dan Futterman (the actor who plays Amy’s brother) is so sweet and handsome that you can’t wait for him to come back to the show even if it’s just for a visit.
4. Because the music selections are superb and coincide perfectly with the storylines. Recently it was Tears for Fears’ “Mad World” and a while back it was Tori Amos’s 1,000 Oceans. Any show that plays Tori is A-okay in my book (yes, she is my favorite singer/songwriter in the world!).
3. Because the earlier seasons of JA had the most incredible photographs that they showed before and after commercial breaks to illustrate and highlight certain emotive aspects of each episode. I believe the photographer is named Michael Yarish and his work is just stunning.
2. Because while they are difficult, the cases in Hartford’s fictitional juvenile court and Department of Children and Families are always poignant and resolved as best as can be. While I’ve been disappointed on occasion when there was a no-win situation, I’m usually always impressed with the way all of the characters resolve conflict. The show is mature and enlightening.
1. And the #1 reason why JA rocks is because Maxine Gray is an amazing woman . . . the type of person that everyone wishes was their own mother. She’s strong, capable, highly opinionated but wise, and resolute. She’s tough as nails with a heart of gold and everyone loves her for it. Fortunately for me, Maxine’s qualities are not that much unlike my own mother’s qualities. And while Amy and Maxine didn’t always get along, my mother and I don’t always see eye to eye either. But I respect and love Maxine and I respect and love my mom (so I guess this kind of turned in to an early Happy Mother’s Day message, Mom!).
So . . . yes . . . Judging Amy Rocks!!!
