Baby Height Predictor!
I get emails all the time from BabyCenter and ParentCenter. com. I think I signed up for them when I was pregnant so they could send me weekly updates on my pregnancy. Anyways, they recently sent me a link to a Baby Height Predictor Calculator which has just told me that it predicts Devyn to only be 5′ 1″ when she’s 18!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This just cracks me up because it asks for her age, height, and weight, and our height. Well . . . . Mike’s tall . . . and I’m above average height-wise for women . . . but definitely not short! It looks like Devyn got the Krystek gene for height that somehow missed my husband (you should see Mike towering over his family . . . sometimes it still makes me laugh at how he got so dang tall!).
Anyways . . . here’s what they said:
Your daughter will likely be 5 feet, 1 inches tall at age 18.
This prediction is a “best guess” but it’s still just that — a guess. Based on the formula we used,* there’s a 50 percent chance your daughter’s full-grown height will be within 1 inch (above or below) of this prediction, a 69 percent chance it will be within 2 inches, and an 84 percent chance it will be within 3 inches.
The fine print:
This method relies on where your daughter falls on the Centers for Disease Control’s growth charts, and it assumes that she’ll remain in the same percentile until she reaches her adult height. The accuracy of the prediction varies because some children will fall into different percentiles throughout childhood.
Here’s the calculator if you want to check it out for your own kids:

Hailey’s First Birthday Session
Hailey was a little bit unsure about having her picture taken at first (aren’t we all like that?). Anyways . . . once we broke out the cake, she was totally into it!

More from Justin’s Senior Session
Justin and I had a great time shooting his senior portraits. He’s so handsome! Hard to believe he’s the same kid I used to babysit.

SouthPark Family
My friends found this website where you can basically design yourself as a South Park character. I don’t watch South Park, but I thought this website was kind of cute. I decided to make my entire family.
Here’s me:

Here’s Mike:

And here’s Devyn:

THE LOOP: Have you been watching?
This new television series on FOX is one of the funniest shows I have ever seen. If you haven’t checked it out yet, there’s more information here:
This show makes me less sad that Arrested Development ended . . . I think this takes it place in my heart quite well!
Of course, this show isn’t for everyone. The innuendo is atrocious and the language would probably be better suited for cable . . but it is still absolutely HILARIOUS. If you don’t offend easily, check it out. I’m trying to get more people to watch it so it doesn’t get canceled in 5 minutes like everything else!

WPPI: My Results are In!!!
Four years ago, I went to the WPPI (Wedding and Portrait Photographers International) convention in Las Vegas for the first time and I recall walking around, looking at all of the prints that did well in the print competition, and was totally in awe. I was blown away by about 95% of the images there . . . they were just completely and totally inspiring. This year, I decided to submit 7 of my images for competition — just to see how they’d do. How it works is, you submit the images and if an image receives a score of 80 or higher, then it hangs on the wall at the convention and gets printed in the WPPI book for that year. I didn’t think many of my images would do well (actually, I only thought one would hang on the wall), but I just HAD to try anyways. Lo and behold . . . .FIVE of them hung!!!! I was so excited!
“Twinkle Toes” scored an 85 - Children category (this is the only one I thought might hang):

“Anticipation” scored an 81 - Premier category, I think.

“Mindy’s Glance” scored an 81 - Premier category, I think.

“Indhira” scored an 80 - Individual category.

“Danica” scored an 80 - Children category.

It will be interesting to see what the other 2 prints scored when I get them back in the mail. I thought the other two prints were stronger than four of the five that hung, so I’m a little surprised at the judging. Surprised, but TOTALLY happy!!!!!!!!!!

Vegas or Bust
I’m outta here! Panicking a little bit about leading a seminar of 100 people . . . but other than that, I’m excited about the trip!
The studio will be closed from today, starting . . . .. NOW! . . . until April 14.
Call me at (619) 861-3630 if you need me!

Hanging with Sara and Paul at La Jolla Cove
Engagement sessions are so much fun and Sara and Paul’s was no exception! We got there a lot sooner before sunset than I normally start my beach sessions, and they were real troopers for the whole afternoon. The weather was perfect and the sky really cooperated with a nice sunset (I can’t always guarantee these things!).
Anyways . . . here’s Sara and Paul:
