Cordelia Chase Krystek - My Dog

People always tell me how lucky my daughter is that I am a photographer as we are never in short supply of Devyn pictures around here. Devyn doesn’t know how lucky she is yet, but then again, neither do my dogs. Here’s some pics of Cordelia “Cordy” Chase Krystek. And, yes, she was named after Charisma Carpenter’s character from Buffy the Vampire Slayer (the television show, not the movie!). It was a sad day for me when that show ended. Man, I still get heartbroken when I think about it.

Okay, enough blubbering over Buffy. Here’s Cordy:

Justin and Riley: The Pics

This past Christmas, I had the difficult task of photographing my two cousins, Justin and Riley. Given that they are both talented, good looking, and very photogenic, this would seem like a simple task . . . but in actuality, photographing two teenage boys is not that easy!!! You can no longer do the whole JC Penney pose with the younger brother leaning on the other–it’s just too hokey for teens. Besides, it’s not my style! I mean, you want them to look cool, because they are, but when you get into posing guys, sometimes the pose just makes it uncool. If you know what I mean! So, keeping in mind: nothing hokey, nothing dorky, nothing lame, nothing too sweetsy and childlike, I ultimately decided to do an urban session and I think they’re pretty cool, if I do say so myself!

So . . . since their mom . . . my aunt . . . chose the most traditional pose from the set for her Christmas card this year, I thought I’d share some of the more fun ones we did (don’t worry, Terri, I still liked the traditional one!).

By the time we were done, I think they were totally ready for the next Hollister ad campaign:

Senior Pictures with Carter

A lot of clients ask me if I photograph anything besides weddings. The answer is YES! In addition to weddings, I photograph families, children, babies, pregnant mommies, high school seniors, and models. There are only a few types of photographs that I do not do. For one, I no longer photograph large, extended familes, unless it’s at a wedding. I also don’t do school portraits (the typical one background, two shots per 3,000 students kind of pictures). However, if you want an alternative to the typical school portraits, I’d be happy to do a basic session or even a day-in-the-life session with your kids - regardless of what grade they are in. They are so much fun and they capture your kids in a way that sitting in front of a stale background simply cannot.

Recently, I had the opportunity to spend some time with Carter for his senior portraits. We went to several locations and Carter brought clothing and props that meant something to him: a necessary component for any portrait aiming at capturing your true nature! As you can see, Carter is completely into music! In addition to his guitar, we even did some pictures with his iPod! So . . . here’s Carter:

Joe & Felicia’s Wedding

Joe and Felicia had a gorgeous ceremony with Mass at St. Charles Borromeo Church, followed by a reception at Shelter Pointe Inn and Marina. Felicia looked positively stunning in her chiffon and lace dress with a ribbon-tie sash, and of course, Joe was quite debonaire himself. Here are a few of my favorites from their Fall wedding:

Shark v. Octopus

Every once-in-awhile, people send me amazing things on email. This has nothing to do with photography — but I did find it fascinating. I’ve never seen anything like it:

It’s not gory at all, but it’s not for the faint of heart, either!
